Live Nation announced this morning that due to popular demand they are raising the roof of Rupp Arena (or more like the curtain) for the last stop on Brad Paisley's winter tour. Beginning at 9:00am today, there will be more tickets made available, the majority being in the $25.00 price level.
Paisley decided to change the name of the tour during the rehearsals in the month of December. The Virtual Reality tour lives up to its name and then some with laser lights zapping hither and yon, and fantastic special effects such as 3-D video screens.

MIRANDA LAMBERT RESCHEDULES WEEKEND SHOWS DUE TO DEATH OF HER FATHER IN LAW
Singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert has rescheduled this weekend's shows of her "On Fire" Tour, due to the death of her father-in-law, Dick Shelton who passed away Tuesday in Oklahoma.. Miranda, wife of singer and star of "The Voice," Blake Shelton, has rescheduled Charlotte, NC (1/19), Lexington, KY (1/20) and Greensboro, NC (1/21). Mr. Shelton, who had been in declining health for the past year, was surrounded by loved ones upon his passing.
Miranda said, "Thank you to the fans for all the support and prayers. This is a really difficult time for our family and the most important thing is being together. Tell your loved ones you love them. See you next week"

Hundreds of Riders Battle for Supremacy in World's Most Intimate Form of Racing
High intensity, bar-to-bar dirt-bike racing at its finest is coming to Lexington for the first time as the AMA Arenacross Series brings some heat during the winter with its inaugural event at legendary Rupp Arena. One memorable night of action on Saturday, February 4, will add another chapter into the quest to crown a champion, as the world's best riders wage war in the Wildcat country. Hundreds of the best Arenacross riders from around the globe will compete for their chance to be one of just 32 riders to make a pair of 16-rider main events in the Arenacross and Arenacross Lites classes. The Party in the Pits on January 15 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. gives fans the opportunity to get a view of the trucks up close and meet the drivers of the massive monster trucks. Fans must have a Sunday, January 15 event ticket and a pit pass to enter. Admission to the pit party is not guaranteed, as space is limited. The Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, Christian music's largest annual tour and Pollstar's #1 tour in attendance for the first quarter of this year, announced its highly anticipated 2012 artist and city line-up during a special launch event held earlier this evening in Nashville.
Founded and hosted by Grammy®-nominated Christian music mainstay NewSong and produced by Premier Productions, the Winter Jam 2012 Tour Spectacular will be headlined by Grammy®- nominated alternative rockers Skillet. The 47-city tour will also feature Sanctus Real, former Newsboys frontman Peter Furler, Kari Jobe, Building 429, Group 1 Crew, illusionist Brock Gill, and national speaker Nick Hall. Rex Chapman, former University of Kentucky standout from 1986 – 88, will be the head coach of the Big Blue All Stars. Dominican National Team Exhibition Game at Rupp Arena presented by Urban Active and Orange Leaf
Dominican National Team to Face Eight NBA Players at Rupp Arena on Aug. 15
ProCamps Worldwide along with presenting partners Urban Active and Orange Leaf have announced a men's basketball exhibition game between Dominican Republic National Team and several NBA players to be played at Rupp Arena on Monday, Aug. 15. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET.
Tickets for the event will become available Monday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. ET on ticketmaster.com or by calling the Rupp Arena box office at (859) 233-3535. Tickets range from $15 per seat for upper-level seating, to $35 per seat for lower-level seating and $100 per person for VIP seats.
John Calipari, who is entering his third season as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, agreed in May to become the head coach of the Dominican Republic National Team, which begins play in late August in several tournaments, including the FIBA Americas Championship for Men/Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
The Dominican Republic National Team will feature 12 players, scheduled to include current NBA stars Francisco Garcia (Sacramento Kings), Al Horford (Atlanta Hawks) and Charlie Villanueva (Detroit Pistons).
Their opponent will consist of eight NBA players that are scheduled to attend, including Eric Bledsoe (Los Angeles Clippers), Keith Bogans (Chicago Bulls), DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings), Jodie Meeks (Philadelphia 76ers), Nazr Mohammed (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons), Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics) and John Wall (Washington Wizards). "The story behind Light Up the Sky is a part of the story of all of us," says Fuqua. "[It's] a picture of what it looks like when you make it through [a] really challenging time, and you look back and see how God was using all of those things for good and that you were never alone."
"When we started writing this record, we sat down and talked through all that we'd been through and started looking for God's fingerprints in all of it," explains Havens. "It was amazing to see how constant He was in everything. We had so many signs along the way that He was with us."
Despite the tragedy and turmoil leading up to recording the record, the band members agree that the recording process for Light Up the Sky ranks at the top of their recording experiences thus far. "The chemistry in the band and with our producer [Dan Muckala] has never been better," says Havens. "It was the most fun I've ever had making music. It was a refreshing period for us as a band and as people, and I think Light Up the Sky reflects that."

Parking Advisory for Saturday, March 12 in Downtown Lexington
There is so much happening in downtown Lexington this Saturday, March 12, residents and visitors best not rely on "the luck of the Irish" to find parking, but need to plan ahead as multiple events are taking place near or at the Lexington Center, Rupp Arena and the Lexington Opera House.
Thousands of people are expected to come downtown to attend the annual St. Patrick's Day festivities. Activities start in the morning with the 3K Shamrock Shuffle at 10 a.m. followed by the Irish Festival 11a.m. and a parade at 1 p.m. In addition to the city-planned festivities, the following events are scheduled to take place at Lexington Center venues:
Approximately 1,700 people are expected to attend Cheersport, a cheerleading competition taking place at Lexington Center's Heritage Hall from 9 a.m - 6 p.m.
The Governor's Cup will be held at the Lexington Convention Center from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.
A concert at Rupp Arena, Winter Jam, with an estimated attendance of 15,000 will have doors opening at 4:45 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. start time. Line up for the concert, which offers no advance ticket sales, will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Lexington Opera House will host two performances of Dance SCAPA. Shows are at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
According to Carl Hall, Director of Arena Management, "People should plan to arrive early and allow extra time to find a parking spot. We expect the Rupp lot on High Street to fill up early in the day but people should be able to find ample parking in Rupp's back lot off Manchester and West Main St.

LEXINGTON CENTER/RUPP ARENA, LEARFIELD SPORTS AGREE TO RIGHTS EXTENSION THROUGH 2016
Lexington Center Corporation officially announced today that Learfield Sports will retain its position as the exclusive venue-media rights holder for the venerable Rupp Arena through 2016. The five-year extension enables Learfield Sports to continue to manage the property through its local entity, Rupp Arena Sports & Entertainment Properties (RASEP), that will operate as a joint venture agreement with IMG College.
The extension, effective July 1, 2011, will include the installation of an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) system that will provide enhanced HDTV video amenities throughout the Rupp Arena concourse and concession areas, while also creating additional corporate sponsorship opportunities. Rupp Arena, home to University of Kentucky Men's Basketball, is a 23,000-seat sports and entertainment center which also plays host to concerts, trade shows and family events throughout the year.
"RASEP (Learfield Sports) has done a terrific job managing the venue-media rights and overseeing those partnerships," said Bill Owen, President and Chief Operating Officer for Lexington Center Corporation, which operates Rupp Arena. "We are certainly pleased to extend our relationship for another five years. They have represented Rupp Arena with tremendous professionalism and expertise every step of the way."
Rupp Arena Sports & Entertainment Properties is overseen locally by General Manager Keith Burdette, who joined Learfield Sports in 2008 following the acquisition of Action Sports Media, which previously represented the arena. "We are excited to have the opportunity to continue serving Bill Owen and the Lexington Center team," said Learfield Sports' Senior Vice President Steve Gowan. "Keith Burdette has done an excellent job leading this property and developing corporate sponsorship and branding opportunities that both preserve and enhance the iconic Rupp Arena culture."
Learfield Sports manages the multimedia and sponsorship rights for more than 50 collegiate institutions, conferences and associations. It also titles the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, in conjunction with award co-founders NACDA and USA Today. Parking will be at a premium on Saturday, February 19 in downtown Lexington as multiple events are taking place at the Lexington Center and Rupp Arena.
Patrons will be coming downtown to attend 2 public expos, a convention and the 4 p.m. UK vs. University of South Carolina Mens Basketball Game.
According to Carl Hall, Director of Arena Management "People should plan to arrive early and allow extra time to find a parking spot. We expect the Rupp lot to be completely full by 3 p.m., so we suggest patrons come downtown early, find a parking spot, have lunch and shop or stroll downtown before the tip off at 4 p.m."

Taylor Swift announced that she will tour the world in 2011 in support of her blockbuster Speak Now album, which shattered sales records with over a million copies sold in its first week of release.
Taylor is currently slated to play 87 shows in 19 countries spanning four continents on the TAYLOR SWIFT SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011, which kicks off February 9th in Singapore.
The 2011 dates will include six stadium shows - Foxborough, MA's Gillette Stadium, Detroit's Ford Field, Pittsburgh's Heinz Field, Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium, and Dallas's Cowboys Stadium. Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.
